Along the path to a nice 3-2 start, aside from offensive tackle, the New York Jets have managed to stay relatively healthy. The lone player to be inactive due to injury in Sunday’s win was linebacker, Quincy Williams (ankle). With practice for the week starting tomorrow, an update should be provided on him.
In the win, Sunday, one player who left with an injury was rookie edge defender, Jermaine Johnson. He played just 15 snaps after an ankle injury caused him to exit. Johnson was limping and ended up having to be taken off on a cart. He was seen with a boot after the game.

Following the game, Johnson took to Twitter, stating, “I’m good!” Jets head coach Robert Saleh met with reporters yesterday and shared that the ankle injury Johnson sustained is nothing too serious “We don’t think it’s severe.” Johnson is listed as day-to-day. Saleh concluded by saying that the team will know more by the end of the week.
Initially, the news seems fortunate for the Jets. Johnson has been a key player for the Jets through his first five games. He has helped stopped the run and created pressure on the quarterback from the edge up front. Johnson has 1.5 sacks and 12 total tackles in 98 snaps played.
The rookie edge defender has proven how gifted he is physically with his size, power, and strength as well as athletically with his speed and quickness. As mentioned, since some tough injuries in the summer and aside from offensive tackle, the Jets have stayed healthy. Hopefully, as this week progresses, Johnson continues to heal up.
