Russell Wilson opens postgame interview with condolences for James White

The New England Patriots were without James White against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday after his father, Tyrone, died in a car crash in South Florida. His mother is in critical condition.

While the entire football community sent its best wishes to White and his family, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson took the time to send the running back his condolences before beginning his postgame interview.

“My heart’s heavy, because one of my teammates, James White, from Wisconsin, one of the nicest guys, teammates, one of the hardest workers, one of the best people I know, had a tough one losing his dad,” Wilson said.

Wilson, who tossed five touchdown passes and guided the Seahawks to a 35-30 Week 2 win over the Patriots, was a college teammate of White's at Wisconsin in 2011.

Many other players across the NFL came out in support of White on Sunday, including Tom Brady, J.J. Watt and Patrick Peterson, among others.

With the loss to Seattle, New England moved to 1-1 on the 2020 campaign. The Pats will try for their second win of the season next week against the Las Vegas Raiders.
