Russell Wilson trade now complete with Seahawks' Derick Hall selection

Russell Wilson threw 4,735 passes for 37,059 yards and 292 touchdowns as a Seahawk. But once Derick Hall puts his name on a contract, Seattle won’t owe its all-time leading passer a thing.

The Seahawks took the talented Auburn linebacker with the 37th pick overall. The pick originally belonged to the Broncos, but they gave it up as part of the trade for Wilson.

As part of the deal, the Broncos sent a total of three players and five picks to Seattle. One of those picks was used in Round 1 to take Illinois CB Devon Witherspoon, and the last pick was used to get Hall.

Thank you, Denver. ESPN sees Hall as a classic "wide-nine" rusher with excellent take-off speed. At just under 6-foot-3 and 254 pounds, his measurables are considered above-average, while his production, durability and intangibles are deemed excellent.

Pro Football Focus describes the linebacker as being built like a Greek god and grades him as the 87th-best prospect in the draft. In four years with Auburn, Hall had 146 tackles, 19 sacks and five forced fumbles. His two interceptions in 2022 were the first of his career.

Look for Hall to help the defense immediately. Seattle gave up the third-most rushing yards and eighth-most points per game in 2022.

With Geno Smith earning the AP Comeback Player of the Year Award and Wilson’s poor play last year, it sure looks like Seattle got the better end of the Wilson deal. If Hall and Witherspoon play to their potential, it should look even better in 2023.
