Russell Wilson working out in San Diego away from Seahawks

Similar to the Cleveland Browns, a plethora of Seattle Seahawks veteran players elected to skip the start of organized team activities this week. Per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, quarterback Russell Wilson is among those not in attendance, as he is working out in sunny San Diego.

"Russ has had a number of guys come visit and work out down where he is in San Diego," head coach Pete Carroll told reporters Thursday. "And so, the quarterback position for us is very competitive. This is a really cool time for these guys learning the offense. . . . It’s a fun challenge for these guys, and they’re taking it to heart."

Before any Seattle fans get too nervous, all should remember that it was only last Friday when Carroll shot down trade rumors involving the one-time champion signal-caller that first popped up after Super Bowl LV.

"Throughout the whole process, Russell, we've always been connected, we've always been talking, we've never not been in communication, and we weren't at all in this time either," Carroll explained during an appearance on "The Rich Eisen Show." The coach insisted all involved are on the same page ahead of the Memorial Day weekend.

Carroll and general manager John Schneider have reiterated for months that Wilson won't be traded this year.
