We’ve all grown accustomed to the magnificent mane on the face of Ryan Fitzpatrick, so it was quite a shock to see him without the bushy beard on Thursday night.

In fact, he is almost unrecognizable without it.

This is a far cry from the man who featured a fro and the beard any mountain man would envy not a week ago (picture here).

The quarterback got a buzz cut earlier in the week after he threw an interception in practice.

“So basically, my hair was just stupid,” Fitzpatrick said, per Daryl Slater of NJ.com. “I needed to cut it. I was going to cut it anyway. It was a nice little poof. I told the defense, I went up to [safety] Rontez Miles and a few of the guys and said, ‘The next person that picks me off gets to give me a fresh summer ‘do.'”

Rookie cornerback Juston Burris made the pick and got the honor of shaving Fitzpatrick’s head.

Then he gave his beard the same treatment, and we’re not quite sure how we feel about the new look.

In limited action Thursday night Fitz proved it won’t have any negative effect on his game. He went 3-4 for 72 yards leading New York’s offense in the first quarter of action against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
