Plenty of signs point towards a new start for Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill. After five seasons with Tennessee, it is expected that he will join another team as a free agent during this offseason.
According to many NFL insiders, the Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to be strong suitors for Tannehill.
The Steelers hired former Titans offensive coordinator and Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith as their new OC.
Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero, and Mike Garafolo all agree on the sentiment regarding Pittsburgh and Tannehill. The veteran QB has missed some notable time due to injury over the last season, but he could battle for a starting QB spot, depending on who picks him up.
Tannehill had his best seasons of his Titans career with Smith at the helm of the offense. The reunion would make plenty of sense at the right price.
Tannehill could also replace veteran Mitch Trubisky on the Steelers depth chart as the backup QB. Pittsburgh could try to start Kenny Pickett to start 2024, but there would be plenty of pressure on him to perform. Outside of Tannehill, other veteran options seem like the most likely options for the Steelers - rather has a rookie.
Regardless, the Titans will probably be in the backup QB market during the offseason, unless they choose Malik Willis for that role. Will Levis will be the 2024 starter.
