As the New Orleans Saints prepare for the 2024 NFL Draft, they've got plenty of holes to fill. General manager Mickey Loomis acknowledged that and assessed the team's plan for an important draft for the future.

Loomis said that he would look at trading up or back ten spots in the first round.

The Saints exclusive actually said the same exact statement over a decade ago regarding the 2013 NFL Draft.

"“There’s a point where we don’t want to go too far, and the same thing with moving forward,” Loomis said Tuesday afternoon at a pre-draft press conference at the team’s headquarters. Loomis set his parameters at 10 spots ahead or behind the Saints’ No. 15 pick of the first round. The Saints lost their second round pick as punishment for their role in Bountygate, the pay-to-injure controversy The lack of the pick, though, has not made the Saints more eager than normal to shop their first-round pick, Loomis said." -- Who Dat Dish

Loomis also noted that if you move back 3 or 4 players - you can get the same caliber player. Not always the same if you go back 8 to 10 spots, according to the Saints GM.

New Orleans must get a starting offensive tackle during the first two rounds of the draft. Loomis noted the talent on the offensive side of the ball at the top of this year's class.

Could be a small hint towards their obvious need on that side of the ball working out with a top 15 selection currently.
