Saints Pro Bowl DE Cameron Jordan donates $40K to Hurricane Ida relief efforts

New Orleans Saints defensive end Cam Jordan has stepped up in a big way following Hurricane Ida, which devastated much of Louisiana.

On Thursday morning, Jordan announced via Instagram that he is pledging $40,000 to the Second Harvest Food Bank in New Orleans. Jordan is also offering personalized $4 Cameo video messages to help raise awareness about child hunger in Louisiana.

Jordan will have 23 messages at the $4 price to help signify the 23 parishes that are currently served by Second Harvest. Cameo will make up the difference on his usual price of $320 and donate all proceeds to the food bank.

Jordan's announcement comes after Saints quarterback Jameis Winston and running back Alvin Kamara reached out to New Orleans Mayor Latoya Cantrell to offer help and resources throughout the city.

While the Saints haven't been heavily affected by Hurricane Ida like many, the team's Week 1 matchup against the Green Bay Packers had to be moved from Caesars Superdome to TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville due to the storm damage.

Jordan has been heavily involved in community efforts since being drafted by the Saints in 2011. In July 2020, he donated $25,000 for laptops to New Orleans students in need and donated $120,000 in May 2021 to anti-racist training for New Orleans cops.

Jordan is on a three-year, $52.5 million deal with the Saints and has made more than $93 million in his career, according to Spotrac. Given his dedication to the community, it's no surprise he has stepped up for New Orleans over the years.
