Saints QB Taysom Hill expected to need surgeries for Lisfranc injury
Nobody can question the toughness of New Orleans Saints quarterback Taysom Hill, who missed time during the fall because of a concussion, dealt with a partially torn plantar fascia and suffered an injury to the middle finger of his throwing hand after he became the club's QB1.
As ESPN's Mike Triplett explained, Hill went down with a Lisfranc injury in his left foot during Sunday's campaign-closing victory over the Atlanta Falcons. New Orleans head coach Sean Payton provided an update on the signal-caller while speaking with reporters Monday and explained Hill likely will require multiple surgeries to repair his latest setback.
Hill agreed to a unique contract extension with the Saints in November, but that deal doesn't necessarily guarantee he'll be atop the club's depth chart at the quarterback position for the 2022 season. Jameis Winston was New Orleans' starter before his campaign prematurely ended when he suffered a torn ACL and damage to his MCL on Halloween, and Payton wasn't prepared to speak about Winston's future on Monday.
In total, Hill completed 58.2% of his passes for 978 yards with four touchdowns and five interceptions this season. He added 374 rushing yards and five scores on the ground.
