Saints say Jimmy Graham arrested after experiencing medical episode

New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham was arrested on Friday night for suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance after he was seen by police wandering into traffic.

On Saturday, the Saints said the incident happened after he experienced a medical episode and a likely seizure.

The team added in a statement that he spent the night under medical supervision and underwent testing after being taken into custody and transported to a local hospital.

Here is the team's statement:

Graham was a star for the Saints and Seattle Seahawks earlier in his career, while also spending time with the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears. He has caught 713 passes for 8,506 yards and 85 touchdowns in his career.

He sat out the entire 2022 season but has been attempting to make a comeback with the Saints this year after signing a one-year deal with the team over the summer.

He caught one pass for 10 yards in the team's preseason opener against the Kansas City Chiefs a week ago.

The Saints are playing the Los Angeles Chargers in their second preseason game on Sunday night in Los Angeles.
