Saints' Sean Payton not committed to starting QB Taysom Hill over Trevor Siemian vs. Cowboys?

It was reported on Monday that the New Orleans Saints were giving versatile offensive weapon Taysom Hill first-team practice reps at quarterback to have him replace Trevor Siemian for Thursday's prime-time game against the Dallas Cowboys after the Saints dropped four consecutive contests with Siemian starting in place of the injured Jameis Winston.

As Josh Alper noted for Pro Football Talk, Hill didn't play in the Thanksgiving night 31-6 loss to the Buffalo Bills because of a lingering foot injury but has been a full participant in practice this week. Nevertheless, Saints head coach Sean Payton told reporters Tuesday he's not yet prepared to name his QB1 for Thursday night.

"We’ll see. Yeah, we’ll see. We want to see how Taysom is doing tomorrow," Payton explained. "Obviously we’re trying to get him back off this foot. It’ll be either he or Trevor."

Hill has thus far completed only seven of eight passes for 56 yards and an interception this season, and the 31-year-old who recently came to terms on a contract extension with the Saints has missed time during the campaign because of his foot and a concussion. Siemian, meanwhile, connected on 17-of-29 passes for 163 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the loss to Buffalo.
