Saints WR Michael Thomas out for season due to setback in ankle rehab
More injury news for the New Orleans Saints as wide receiver Michael Thomas will now miss the remainder of the season after having a setback rehabbing an injured ankle, ESPN reported early Wednesday morning.
Thomas, 28, announced the news himself via Twitter.
Thomas initially sustained the injury in Week 1 of the 2020 season and then missed nine games. As the All-Pro wideout summarized in his tweet, he worked with the medical staff to bounce back after surgery but hit a snag in his rehabilitation.
It is a bit unclear what the setback in his rehab entails, especially with some outlets claiming Thomas has a new injury altogether. Nevertheless, Thomas will miss the remainder of the 2021 season.
It's a huge blow for New Orleans, as it was learned earlier this week they will be without quarterback Jameis Winston for the rest of the season due to a knee injury. Winston had to be carted off the field during last Sunday's 36-27 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
