Wide receiver may not be seen as a primary need for the San Francisco 49ers in the draft, but it's becoming increasingly clear they are looking to take advantage of an impressive class and add to a position of strength.

Having already scheduled top-30 visits with USC wide receiver Brenden Rice, son of 49ers legend Jerry, and Western Kentucky wideout Malachi Corley, UCF's Javon Baker told reporters at the Big 12 pro day that he is set to visit with San Francisco.

Baker heads into the draft having delivered a career year in his final collegiate season.

He finished 2023 season with 1,139 with seven touchdowns, averaging 21.9 yards per reception.

The 49ers have one of the premier wide receiver duos in the NFL in All-Pro Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel.

But that pair was largely frustrated by the Kansas City Chiefs in San Francisco's Super Bowl 58 defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs, with Jauan Jennings stealing the show from a 49ers perspective in an overtime thriller. Jennings threw a touchdown pass and scored a receiving touchdown.

The 49ers are looking to tie Aiyuk to a long-term extension, while Jennings signed his restricted free agent tender this offseason. San Francisco has made no secret of its wish to sign Jennings beyond the upcoming 2024 season, however, the 49ers' visits with several receivers likely to be available on day two of the draft indicate they have a clear desire to add another playmaking answer at receiver having run out of solutions on the biggest stage.
