San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance is in a tricky position. Rumors swirled last week that the team is listening to offers for the former top-five pick. The team seems to be moving forward with Brock Purdy and the team is hoping to recoup some compensation for Lance. He was asked about a possible trade and didn’t offer much.

San Francisco 49ers Trey Lance On Trade Rumors

“I got no comment on that,” before adding, “I have no information.” Reading between the lines, he seems rathered perturbed about the trade rumors. While it may just be that he is completely out of the loop, he probably isn’t happy that he is being shopped. Lance really hasn’t gotten a chance to prove himself since last year was cut short with an ankle injury. The talent is there and we have seen flashes of it but it seems the 49ers are ready to move on.

Which Teams Could Acquire Him?

There seems to be no shortage of suitors. This isn’t a surprise as a quarterback is the most important position in football and teams are more willing to take a flyer on one. The Minnesota Vikings are a popular fit as Kirk Cousins is in the last year of his contract. The Tennessee Titans have been in the market for a quarterback as Ryan Tannehill comes to the end of his career. The real question is the compensation. San Francisco gave up a king’s ransom to get Lance but likely will get pennies on the dollar back.

Will Trey Lance be traded before the draft? It is one of the many storylines to watch during draft week. This could end up being one of the wildest draft nights in recent memory if trades start flying.
