With the calendar flipping to June and offseason activities well underway league-wide, the Seattle Seahawks will open training camp at the VMAC in less than two months, officially ushering in the 2023 season.

To celebrate the new incoming season, I will be detailing every member of the Seahawks 90-man roster over the next several weeks, exploring best and worst case scenarios and what to expect from each player entering the 2023 campaign.

Arquon Bush, Cornerback

Height/Weight: 6-0, 187 pounds

2022 Stats*: 34 tackles, two interceptions, three pass breakups

*College stats at Cincinnati

Joining an ascending Bearcats squad featuring several future NFL players, including current Seahawks cornerback Coby Bryant, Bush provided quality production as a rotational defensive back in his first two seasons on campus, registering two interceptions and six pass breakups in just 14 games. He became a full-time starter by his redshirt sophomore season in 2020, registering two interceptions and three pass breakups, continuing to show a penchant for getting his hands on the football.

Playing the nickel role alongside Bryant and Sauce Gardner in 2021, he helped Cincinnati advance to the college football playoff by posting three picks, six pass breakups, and two blocked field goals. Closing out his collegiate career, he slid back outside to replace Gardner and earned Honorable Mention All-AAC honors before going undrafted and signing with the Seahawks.

Best-Case Scenario: Flourishing on special teams as he did at Cincinnati, Bush makes several tackles on kick and punt coverage and blocks a punt during exhibition play, putting his name on the map as a practice squad player and eventually earning a couple of game day call ups to contribute in the third phase of the game.

Worst-Case Scenario: Lacking ideal top speed to handle NFL receivers in the secondary, Bush doesn't stand out amongst his undrafted peers at cornerback and in a crowded secondary, he receives a pink slip after the final preseason matchup without being brought back on the practice squad.

What to Expect in 2023: Coming from one of the nation's best programs over the past four seasons, Bush has played quality football against top competition and with nine interceptions and 23 pass breakups in five college seasons, his ball skills stand out as a trait that could translate well to the next level. He often was overshadowed by the talent around him with Gardner being a top-five draft pick and Bryant winning the Jim Thorpe Award in 2021.

But after Seattle invested a top-five pick in Devon Witherspoon to pair with Pro Bowler Tariq Woolen, with Mike Jackson, Bryant, and Tre Brown all returning as well, trying to win one of the final roster spots will be incredibly difficult. Even if he plays well on special teams, barring injuries ahead of him on the depth chart, Bush doesn't have a clear path to the initial 53 and his best hope may be landing on the practice squad or catching the attention of another cornerback-needy team off waivers.
