Seahawks-Buccaneers sets NFL ratings record
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 21-16 win over the Seattle Seahawks Sunday in Munich, Germany was NFL Network’s most-watched international series game since the network began airing overseas games in 2016.
Sunday’s broadcast had 5.8 million viewers and the game drew a crowd of 69,811 fans to Allianz Arena.
"If the league gives us a chance to do it, we'll be wide open for it,” Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said of playing overseas again. “This was a great event for us. Having it come the week before the bye is really valuable. It's a totally different experience if you didn't have that. I wouldn't want to do that if it wasn't with the bye. But it's just competitively such a challenge. Yeah, we're wide open."
Combined television and digital viewership saw a five percent increase from the Week 5 matchup between the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants, and a 19 percent increase from the Week 4 matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints, according to Sports Illustrated.
The three international series games this year are also the three most-watched international games in league history.
