Seattle Seahawks cornerback Artie Burns since leaving college at the University of Miami has either been injured or has underperformed. However, he still possesses the talent the Pittsburgh Steelers saw when they took him with the 25th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Last season for the Chicago Bears, Burns played 11 games and had 21 tackles [17 solo and four assists], according to NFL.com.

Burn is looking to become a starter this season with the Seahawks and continue his upward project in the Emerald City.

Burns’ arrival at the Seahawks concluded a process that began during the 2020 season and was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. He had narrowed down his choices to Seattle or Chicago and eventually chose the Bears because of the closeness of his family.

Moving across the country in the middle of a pandemic was not the pressure he wanted to put on his six- and three-year-old children at the time.

“They are super clingy. They don’t want me to be too far away,” Burns said.

Rookie CB Coby Bryant is turning heads at Seahawks practice

According to ESPN’s Brady Henderson, “Coby Bryant’s ball skills continue to show up now that DBs can actually defend throws.  Today, he had another PBU [Pass Break Up] on a wobbly Drew Lock deep ball into the wind. Bryant is still the No. 2 LCB behind Sidney Jones.

Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith added, “Coby has just been making plays all over the place.”

Bryant shared with reporters that he feels that training camp has gone well for him.

“I feel like camp is going great for me. You know, I’m learning something new every day,” Bryant told reporters when talking about camp so far on Tuesday. “Just having my head down and working, just continually getting better.”

According to SI’s Logan Macdonald, he would later describe the battle with DK Metcalf.

“I’m a rookie. I’m still trying to earn my name. [Metcalf] has earned his stripes in the NFL…. I just have to step up to the test, and that’s what this culture is about, competition and competing.”

Geno Smith has received most of the first team reps

Per Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune, “Geno Smith throwing to DK Metcalf first, Tyler Lockett last each round in group drills today at Seahawks training camp.
