Seahawks re-sign backup QB Geno Smith
In 2019, former New York Jets and New York Giants quarterback Geno Smith explained that he elected to sign with the Seattle Seahawks even though he had better offers on the table.
Now a backup to one-time Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson, Smith has once again re-upped with Seattle.
The 30-year-old reacted to the news via Twitter:
Smith entered the NFL when the Jets selected him in the second round of the 2013 draft but failed to cement himself as the club's long-term starter. He then controversially replaced Eli Manning in the Giants' starting lineup for one game in the fall of 2017, a decision that ended Manning's streak of 210 consecutive starts.
Smith spent the 2018 campaign with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Last season, he completed four of five passes for 33 yards.
