Seahawks' Russell Wilson: 'I hope it's not my last game' in Seattle

The Seattle Seahawks have endured a difficult season and sit at 5-10 ahead of Sunday's home finale against the Detroit Lions and the Week 18 game at the Arizona Cardinals. With the Seahawks facing a potential offseason rebuild, All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner spoke with reporters Wednesday about his uncertain future, per Brady Henderson of ESPN.

Wagner isn't the only current Seattle player who may have a new football home before summer arrives.

Seahawks star quarterback Russell Wilson was the subject of all kinds of trade rumors last winter and spring and, more recently, has been linked in reports with a possible move to the New York Giants, Denver Broncos or New Orleans Saints. Wilson suggested on Thursday he wants to remain with the Seahawks but made it clear he'll be playing in the NFL next fall regardless of who is signing his checks at that time.

"I know for me personally, I hope it’s not my last game," Wilson said of playing in Seattle, according to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. "But at the same time, I know it won’t be my last game in the NFL. I’m just focused on today and getting better today. That’s my goal. I love this city, and I love this moment. I love these guys, and we gotta make sure we get better today. That’s all that matters."

The Giants, Broncos, Saints and maybe the Cleveland Browns are among clubs that could go big-game hunting regarding the sport's most important position as soon as next month, even though a trade can't be finalized until the new NFL year opens in March. Unless Wilson publicly silences any and all trade talk, discussions about his future will only heat up after he faces the Cardinals on Jan. 9.
