Seahawks safety Jamal Adams apologizes to concussion doctor after sideline confrontation

Days after an uncomfortable sideline confrontation with an independent sideline doctor on "Monday Night Football," Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams apologized via social media.

Adams started by saying that the doctor did "everything right."

"Watching the replay, I am thankful for your patience knowing I wasn't myself in that moment," Adams wrote. "You're a real one and you serve a great purpose that benefits the NFL and so many players. Prioritizing player's health is essential. Much respect to you!"

Adams' intense reaction, while not excusable, was slightly understandable. On Monday, he returned to the field for the first time in over a year after suffering a torn quadriceps tendon in his left leg in the 2022 opener.

While chasing down New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, Adams took a knee to the helmet and was removed from the game to be examined by sideline doctors for a head injury. After being told he had a concussion and could not re-enter the game, Adams shouted at the doctor, aggressively approaching him before heading to the locker room.

It's good that Adams got in front of this messy piece of business, but the NFL may have forced his hand. Only hours before Adams apologized on the interwebs, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the league was considering "discipline" against the Seahawks DB for his actions on Monday. Whether or not an apology wipes out any possible penalty that could be coming remains uncertain.

As for an injury update on Adams, he should be back relatively soon. Following the Seahawks' 24-3 win on Monday night, head coach Pete Carroll told reporters that Adams should be ready to go when the team travels to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals in Week 6 following their bye.
