Sean McVay 'excited' about collaborating with Matthew Stafford
The Los Angeles Rams are optimistic that Matthew Stafford's presence will be able to take their offense to the next level.
Rams head coach Sean McVay hasn't been shy when sharing his excitement about the addition of Stafford, and he admitted as much this week on "The Rich Eisen Show."
"When you're really playing that position, when you're asked to get through progressions, recognize, read, solve problems protection wise, you're seeing him do a lot of those things," McVay said. "And to be able to work together, to collaborate, I'm really excited about that collaboration because he's got a lot of good film and a lot of exposure to different systems that ultimately, you'll see us bring into our arsenal because it starts with the quarterback always in everything we do."
The Rams' offense was solidly top 10 in the league in McVay's first two seasons in L.A. However, last season didn't go nearly as well, with Jared Goff struggling.
With Stafford at the helm of the offense, the Rams should be a lot better in 2021. The 33-year-old has been consistent over his 12-year career and is a clear upgrade over Goff.
Wide receiver Robert Woods praised the addition of Stafford, and DeSean Jackson for that matter, saying, "Our offense is looking loaded once again." Only time will tell if that's actually the case.
