The Los Angeles Rams paid a hefty price to acquire Matthew Stafford this past offseason.

So there were some major expectations from the start.

Yet did anyone expect the Rams to look like Super Bowl contenders from the start with their new signal-caller?

Stafford has taken the expectations to a whole new level and has even surprised his head coach.

A Sean McVay quote shared in a recent Pro Football Talk article tells the story.

“He has been better than I thought, and I thought he was going to be really good,” McVay said. “I’ve been really impressed with his body of work and his resume over the course of his career. I think he’s doing a great job. I think the best players elevate those around them. I think guys are playing better around him. I think he’s seeing the field really well.”

Stafford keeps it professional, but he has to be absolutely ecstatic with the improvement from Stafford over the play of Jared Goff.

A Resurgence In Los Angeles

Stafford is usually a lock to finish a season with 4,000 yards.

This year he is already at 1,838 through six games and has also thrown 16 touchdowns.

He had 26 touchdowns all of last season with Detroit.

It truly is amazing what can happen when putting a talented quarterback with a capable offense.

Stafford was buried with the Lions for years and had to will the team just to win a few games each and every season.

The Rams knew they were close and needed an upgrade at quarterback to take that next step.

The trade seems to have worked in a major way and McVay can finally run his offense to perfection.

Not being able to adjust with Goff is a criticism against the head coach, but the quarterback’s current performance in Detroit may prove he was being lifted by his coach all along.

Yet what Goff does is no longer any concern to those in Los Angeles.

Stafford has the team rolling and should pick up an easy win over Goff and the Lions this weekend.
