Sean McVay hopes Odell Beckham Jr. re-signs with Rams

The Los Angeles Rams took a relatively inexpensive flier on three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in November following his dramatic and much-publicized exit from the Cleveland Browns. That experiment has thus far gone well for all involved. Beckham recorded 27 catches for 305 yards and five touchdowns across eight regular-season contests with the Rams and then tallied four receptions for 54 yards and a score in this past Monday's postseason victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

As things stand today, Beckham is set to hit free agency once the new NFL year opens in March, but Rams head coach Sean McVay made it clear during Friday's media session he wants the 29-year-old to run it back with the organization.

Beckham spent his first five NFL seasons with the New York Giants, and the perception has existed for years that he would prefer to play in a large market such as the Big Apple or Los Angeles as opposed to in Cleveland, where he rarely clicked with quarterback Baker Mayfield and also suffered a season-ending torn ACL in October 2020.

As Michael David Smith noted for Pro Football Talk, it remains unknown what type of deal Beckham may fetch on the open market or if he'd offer the Rams any "hometown discount" before the start of free agency. For now, he, McVay and the rest of the club better be focused on Sunday's must-win matchup at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
