The Los Angeles Rams bounced back in the 2023 NFL season thanks to head coach Sean McVay and his coaching staff.

McVay and company were able to retool around its pillars in Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp and Aaron Donald, but their young crop of players also developed quicker than expected. The Rams qualified for the 2023 playoffs, and nearly upset the Detroit Lions on the road.

Despite losing in the Wild Card Round, Los Angeles is back on the rise and should be considered a threat come the 2024 campaign. McVay remains one of the most elite head coaches in the league and he’ll be looking to prove any doubters wrong.

Until then, McVay will also be serving as one of the newest members on the NFL Competition Committee. He acknowledged how humbled he was and that he’s looking forward to helping where he can, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:

“Maybe I won’t burn my timeouts in the second half so early, learn about that,” McVay jokingly said during a video conference with reporters Thursday. “Here’s what I will say. I’m humbled and I’m flattered that they would even consider to ask me.

“When you go to these league meetings over the last handful years, I’ve always been interested and intrigued about, ‘Okay, how can you affect positive change? How can you have an understanding of moving the game in the right direction?’ I think there’s coaches and there’s front office members that have done a great job of setting an example, and so when (NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations) Troy Vincent and (NFL Commissioner) Roger Goodell reached out, I was flattered. Kind of wanted to understand, alright, what are some of the commitments? How can I try to be a valuable contributor to that? And certainly looking forward to being able to learn and grow and see if we can help do some good things. But I was certainly flattered to be a part of that.”

McVay and Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott are the committee’s newest members and will be in included in discussions that involve rules, roster management, technology, amongst other things.

Rams announce full slate of additions to Sean McVay’s staff

McVay was busy during the offseason interviewing candidates for vacant positions on his coaching staff. After a couple of months, the organization settled on all the openings and recently announced the full slate of additions to the staff for the 2024 season.
