Seattle mayor to New Orleans mayor: 'Keep your eyes off Russell Wilson'
Russell Wilson's future with the Seattle Seahawks is uncertain. The veteran quarterback recently listed the four teams he'd be OK with getting traded to: the New Orleans Saints, Chicago Bears, Las Vegas Raiders and Dallas Cowboys.
With Drew Brees expected to retire, leaving the Saints without a star quarterback, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell couldn't help but recruit Wilson to the city once she found out it was among his preferred destinations.
Shortly after seeing Cantrell's tweet, Seattle mayor Jenny Durkan told Cantrell to keep her eyes off Wilson. She also threw in a shot about relocation rumors surrounding the New Orleans Pelicans.
Cantrell isn't the only person pushing for Wilson to change teams, either. Several Chicago Bears players, including Tarik Cohen and Cordarrelle Patterson, took the time to recruit the seven-time Pro Bowler after rumors surfaced that he would "love" a trade to the city.
At this point, it seems unlikely that Wilson will be traded. The 32-year-old reportedly prefers to stay with the Seahawks and gave his four-team trade list only in the event things reach a point of no return.
Wilson aired out his frustrations earlier in the offseason about all the hits he has taken and stated his desire for more say in the team's personnel decisions. Those comments were out of the ordinary for Wilson, who has never publicly aired his grievances throughout his nine seasons in the NFL.
