The Seattle Seahawks put out an impressive effort on defense in week 4 against the New York Giants. The performance had commentator Troy Aikman and many others reminiscent of the Seahawk’s Legion of Boom era.

The Seattle Seahawks’ Defense forced several turnovers and recorded multiple sacks on Monday night. The most crucial play came from Cornerback Devon Witherspoon when he returned an interception 97 yards for a touchdown. The Seahawks defense had Giants quarterback Daniel Jones visibly on Edge.

Legion of Boom 2.0

Throughout the MNF Game, the New York Giants struggled to contain and adjust to the dominant performance of Seattle’s defense. In total, New York turned the ball over three times, which played a significant role in the Seahawks’ 24-3 victory over the Giants. Daniel Jones threw two interceptions and fumbled the ball once.

On top of the significant turnovers, Daniel Jones was Sacked 11 times throughout the game. The Seattle Seahawks defense needed one more sack to add Daniel Jones to the list of quarterbacks who have been sacked the most in a single game. Donovan McNabb and Warren Moon hold the tied record of 12.

But the defenders still put their names in the history books as they tied the Seahawks franchise record for most sacks in a single game. The last time the Seattle Seahawks sacked a quarterback 11 times in one game was in 1986.

The Seahawks’ Secondary also concluded Monday Night Football with an impressive performance. They only allowed 136 passing yards and 3 points the entire game. Also, cornerbacks Devon Witherspoon and Quandre Diggs came down with interceptions.

Devon Witherspoon

Devon Witherspoon played the starring role in this dominant defensive performance against the struggling Giants. The rookie recorded many of his first career stats.

Witherspoon recorded his first sack as an NFL player at Monday night’s game. He also recorded his first interception and first career touchdown.

Following the game, Seahawks Head Coach Pete Caroll praised the cornerback’s performance and skills during the post-game press conference.

“I never thought he wouldn’t play like this,” Carroll said after the game. “This is why we took him, to be active and to show that he gets this game of football, and it comes easy to him, and he’s an explosive, dynamic player. “He did a great job again tonight. You can see why we like him.

Rookie Devon Witherspoon ended the game with an impressive stat line, reading: 7 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 pass deflection, 1 interception, 1 touchdown

In recognition of his performance, the cornerback has been named the NFC Defensive Player of Week 4.

Witherspoon’s electrifying performance and the Seahawks’ defensive display at MetLife Stadium stirred nostalgia among NFL fans, reminiscent of the 2011-2018 Legion of Boom era. This term referred to the Seattle Seahawks’ secondary during that time. The nickname was due to their hard-hitting play style where players were known to “bring the boom.”

The Seattle Seahawks’ next game will be against the Bengals on October 15th, after their week 5 bye. NFL fans are curious to see if the Legion of Boom 2.0 will continue their dominant defensive effort following their win against the New York Giants.
