Several cars catch fire at Dolphins-Patriots game after fan leaves grill on

The Miami Dolphins were big winners in their season opener against the New England Patriots on Sunday, cruising to a 20-7 that was probably not as close as the score would indicate.

It was not a happy day for everybody in Miami though.

Several cars caught fire in the parking of Hard Rock Stadium during the game, producing images of smoke rising up from behind the stadium during the first half.

There were no injuries, but authorities have not yet released the cause of the fire only saying that it was accidental.

Hard Rock Stadium issued a statement to Local 10 News in Miami:

“Around 1 pm, a vehicle fire began in a remote Hard Rock Stadium parking lot. Several vehicles were affected. Miami Dade Police Department and Miami Dade Fire Rescue were on the scene. The fire has been extinguished and is being investigated by Fire Rescue. No injuries have been reported and there is no current threat to the stadium.”

The most logical possibility would be something having to do with a pregame tailgate. It would not be the first time something like that has happened. Either way, the aftermath for several cars was absolutely brutal.

Not a fun day at all.
