The Hall of Fame is a sacred place.
Even though many deserving individuals are nominated for the Hall, it’s a truly prestigious place, and there are typically 15 finalists each year, with just five individuals being inducted each time.
This season, there are a few head-scratchers, in terms of players not selected as finalists.
Among the finalist snubs is former receiver Anquan Boldin.
Boldin played in the league for 14 years, and although he is most notably recognized as a member of the Arizona Cardinals, he also spent time as a Baltimore Raven, San Francisco 49er, and Detroit Lion.
Boldin ended his career with 1,076 receptions, 13,799 yards, and 82 touchdowns.
He holds many receiving records, including the most receiving yards in his first NFL game played, the most receptions through 26 games, and is the fastest player in NFL history to get to 400 receptions.
Boldin is one of the greatest receivers to ever play in the NFL, and being snubbed from the finalist list is one of the most surprising snubs in 2023.
Two other surprising omissions are on the opposite side of the ball, James Harrison and Vince Wilfork.
Harrison spent the majority of his career as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers but had brief stints with the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots.
Speaking of the Patriots, Wilfork spent most of his time in the NFL as a Patriot but ended his career with the Houston Texans.
Both of these players are defensive legends.
Although they are not finalists this season, we suspect that they will both make the Hall at some point.
