Shannon Sharpe confident Cowboys can beat Rams thanks to their pass-rush
Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe proclaimed the Cowboys should be favored against the Rams this Sunday because their pass-rush will steamroll a shaky offensive line.
"I'm surprised the Cowboys are an underdog," Sharpe said Wednesday on FS1's Undisputed. "I have a lot of confidence that the Cowboys can win this game, because of their pass-rush."
According to ESPN, the Cowboys are 5.5 point underdogs against the Rams. Head coach Sean McVay has never lost to the Cowboys.
However, this matchup feels different. The Rams are dealing with a massive Super Bowl hangover. They're 2-2 and coming off a 24-9 loss against the 49ers. The holes in the offensive line showed in that loss as the 49ers defense sacked quarterback Matthew Stafford seven times.
"The offensive line is awful," Sharpe said.
The Rams allowed 16 sacks in the first four games. The problems might mount against another ferocious pass rush. The 49ers and Cowboys are tied for second in total sacks through four games.
The Cowboys lead the NFL in QB hits (36). Demarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons present a major problem for a a jumbled O-line. Parsons is trying to prove one simple decree to the NFL. "Doomsday is back," Parsons told Yahoo! Sports Jori Epstein.
Doomsday was the nickname for the Cowboys defense in the 1970's when it helped the Cowboys win two Super Bowls. A win against the defending champions this Sunday would support the bold claim.
