The Washington Commanders have been one of the winners of free agency, but could another big move be on the horizon?

New Commanders head coach Dan Quinn is coming to Washington from the Dallas Cowboys and could be interested in signing his former cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

Gilmore is one of the best veterans remaining on the market, and even though he's 33 years old, he could be a tremendous addition to the team, which is looking to turn around the team as soon as possible.

"When a player suits up for four different teams in four straight years, that typically isn't a good thing. Stephon Gilmore is an exception to that rule, though," Bleacher Report writes. "The veteran cornerback has been consistently great at each stop, most recently for the Dallas Cowboys. He yielded 6.9 yards per target and a passer rating of only 82.7 in 2023, ending the season with 13 pass breakups and two interceptions."

Quinn has shown a strong connection to his former players and just signed another veteran, future Hall of Fame linebacker Bobby Wagner, to the Commanders. If Quinn's relationship with former players extends to Gilmore as it did with Wagner, the team could rapidly improve from where it finished a season ago.

Adding Gilmore could improve the development of cornerback Emmanuel Forbes Jr., who is entering his second season in the NFL next year after being drafted in the first round a year ago.

As this offseason progresses, Washington is certainly a team to monitor, as general manager Adam Peters has improved the roster during his first season in charge.
