Once one of the better interior pass rushers of his era, Gerald McCoy has seen his career fall on hard times recently. He missed the entire 2020 season due to a quad injury after signing with the Dallas Cowboys.

Now apparently 100% recovered and ready to go, the 33-year-old McCoy has signed with the Las Vegas Raiders.

This should give a questionable Raiders defense some boost from a pass-rush perspective. From 2012-18 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Gerald McCoy recorded a combined 125 quarterback hits and 50.5 sacks. He was right up there with Aaron Donald as the best pass rusher from the defensive tackle position during that span.

McCoy then spent the 2019 season with the Carolina Panthers — recording 13 quarterback hits and five sacks.

Coming off a 2020 campaign in which they yielded a whopping 29.9 points per game, the Raiders need their defense to step up. In addition to McCoy, they have also added fellow former Pro Bowlers Yannick Ngakoue and Casey Hayward to the mix this offseason.
