Amidst a relatively quiet offseason, the Dallas Cowboys find themselves grappling with the challenge of breaking through their playoff barriers after three seasons of near misses.

Despite consistently clinching 12 regular-season victories, their postseason success has been elusive, with only one trip to the divisional round in recent memory and a distant NFC Championship Game appearance dating back to 1995.

In stark contrast, NFC East rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, have made bold moves, bolstering their roster with notable additions like star running back Saquon Barkley.

This aggressive approach hasn’t gone unnoticed, especially by vocal Cowboys supporter Skip Bayless, who took to Twitter to critique Dallas’s restrained spending on upgrades, juxtaposed against the Eagles’ lavish investments aimed at reclaiming elite status.

“Eagles have spent the most money in the NFL this offseason. Cowboys have spent the least. Eagles have all their key players locked up contractually. We don’t. Eagles have added so many good players. We’ve added Eric Kendricks, for 3 mil. Philly=contender. We=miss playoffs.”

Dallas finds itself navigating a delicate balance, needing to preserve sufficient cap space to secure a contract extension for quarterback Dak Prescott beyond the 2024 season.

While the signing of linebacker Eric Kendricks stands out as their major offseason move, its potential impact on playoff fortunes remains uncertain.

The glaring issue haunting the Dallas Cowboys’ postseason aspirations has been Prescott’s inconsistent performance in critical games. Until he delivers on his promise in pivotal moments, the team’s postseason ambitions will likely remain unfulfilled.

The path to their elusive first Super Bowl victory not only hinges on Prescott’s on-field contributions but also on the franchise’s strategic decisions regarding his future.
