SoFi Stadium 97 percent complete, video board raised to rafters

The new home of the Los Angeles Chargers and Rams is looking fantastic, and a new element to the stadium has finally been completed.

SoFi Stadium shared a video of the massive 2.2 million pound, 70,000 square foot digital LED video board being raised to the rafters on Wednesday, and it is spectacular.

The raising of the video board makes the stadium 97 percent complete, and it's still on schedule to be opened for the 2020 NFL campaign.

The stadium, which is being built by Rams billionaire owner Stan Kroenke, will hold its first event on Aug. 14 when the New Orleans Saints come to town for a preseason matchup with the Rams. The Rams previously played their home games at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum while the Chargers hosted games at Dignity Health Sports Park.

Construction on the stadium began in 2016 and it is estimated to cost about $5 billion. No incidents that resulted in death have been reported from the site, though there have been several positive cases of the coronavirus among the workers.
