The Cincinnati Bengals were unable to make the play they needed late in their Super Bowl loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Had Joe Burrow had another second to throw on his team’s final drive, the outcome of the game may have been completely different.

The Bengals turned the ball over on downs with less than a minute remaining when Burrow was unable to complete a short pass to Samaje Perine. Burrow, who was sacked seven times in the game, had to rush the throw. If Cincinnati’s offensive line was able to protect Burrow, he may have seen that Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey fell down and Ja’Marr Chase was running free down the sideline.

Ouch.

It’s no surprise that Burrow had to rush the throw with Aaron Donald in his face. The Bengals will certainly have to address their offensive line issues in the coming months, as their star quarterback was sacked 19 times during the postseason. It’s tough to win games when your QB is getting hit that much.

Of course, playcalling was also a major issue on the Bengals’ final drive. Head coach Zac Taylor faced a great deal of criticism for one particular call toward the end of the game.
