The Dallas Cowboys took a gamble on return specialist KaVontae Turpin and might soon reap the rewards.

If he turns out to be a steal, the former TCU standout will be an asset to a team that suffered a home playoff loss last season.

The Cowboys believed in the 2022 United States Football League Most Valuable Player so much that they signed him to a three-year contract last July.

He did not disappoint once he was given a chance to shine.

The FOX Sports NFL Twitter account said, “This man @KaVontaeTurpin was on a mission.”

After the Cowboys’ preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers, he has become the talk of the town because of his two return touchdowns.

His first touchdown came in the first quarter when he returned a kickoff for 98 yards with a speed of 20.95 miles per hour.

In the next quarter, he completed an 86-yard punt return which he ran with a top speed of 20.86 mph.

More importantly, the Cowboys won the game, 32-18.

Cowboys fans will be in for a treat if he can replicate those return touchdowns during the regular season.

Turpin Finally Made It To The NFL

His career took a number of detours before reaching the big league.

After going undrafted in 2019, he suited up for the Glacier Boyz in Fan-Controlled Football last year.

He also played for the Panthers Wroclaw of the European League of Football.

After the season, the team re-signed him but he opted to join the USFL wherein he was drafted by the New Jersey Generals.

Turpin became the league’s MVP after being drafted in the 13th round.

He finished the season with 44 receptions for 540 yards and four touchdowns.

He also has 129 rushing yards and a touchdown in his lone season with the Generals.
