The Pittsburgh Steelers added even more salary cap space after restructuring the contract of newly-acquired cornerback Donte Jackson, according to OverTheCap.

The Steelers added Jackson to their roster in a trade with the Carolina Panthers, sending wide receiver Diontae Johnson and a pick swap in return. Jackson's initial contract was worth $10.5 million this season, but the team has now re-worked the deal, adding more salary cap space to their total.

The team changed Jackson's salary in 2024 to $6 million with a $4.75 million signing bonus, adding roughly $4.5 million to their salary cap in the process.

Prior to the move, Pittsburgh had roughly $10.6 million in cap space. They now enter Week 2 of free agency with $15.1 million.

The team is already working to add to their roster, bringing in wide receiver Mike Williams for a visit. The former Los Angeles Chargers' first-round pick would join Van Jefferson as offseason additions to their receiving core.

The Steelers typically spend all of their available cap space in free agency and then create roughly $10 million for the upcoming season. With other restructures still available, with names like T.J. Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick, among others, they have plenty of ways to create more cap space if needed.
