Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Cameron Heyward knows that the Combine is the perfect place is look for NFL-level talent.

Those who perform well throughout the drills are perceived to have a better career in the pros.

However, that’s not always the case and there have been a number of players who had great careers despite the poor performance at the Combine.

Regardless of what the Combine might yield, Heyward is ready to help his team in finding talent that can help them compete.

Heyward said, “Bout to break in to the combine see I can get some scouting done today @NFL.”

If wants to help his team, perhaps he can have a close look at the quarterback prospects for the 2022 NFL Draft.

They badly need one after Ben Roethlisberger retired and their current options are not yet enough, per head coach Mike Tomlin.

However, Heyward will most likely help scout aspirants on defense who might be a great fit for their already talented unit.

What The Steelers Need On Defense

It seems like the Steelers have all layers of their defense covered.

Heyward generates pressure from the defensive line, getting ten sacks last season, while Chris Wormley added seven.

Meanwhile, reigning Defensive Player of the Year T.J. Watt leads their linebackers, together with Alex Highsmith.

They also have Minkah Fitzpatrick and Joe Haden on their secondary.

However, run defense has been their biggest weakness last season, allowing a league-worst 146.1 rushing yards per game.

Compare that to their pass defense wherein they rank ninth, surrendering only 215.1 yards per game.

Pittsburgh also had the most sacks during the regular season with 55, thanks largely to Watt’s league-leading 22.5

Based on those numbers, perhaps Heyward and the Steelers will focus on looking for solid run defenders that might not be high on other teams’ radar.
