Just a week ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers were heading into game day with high hopes of their playoff future and the possibility not only of continuing to climb but also of potentially finding themselves at the top of the AFC by the end of the regular season.

Today, two games and two losses later, they're out of the playoff picture and once again fighting to find themselves back in it. Following their loss to the New England Patriots in Week 14, the Steelers slid to the 8th seed in the AFC and will need to fight their way back into the top seven spots if they want to make the postseason.

The current AFC standings look as follows:

  1. Miami Dolphins (9-3)
  2. Baltimore Ravens (9-3)
  3. Kansas City Chiefs (8-4)
  4. Jacksonville Jaguars (8-4)
  5. Cleveland Browns (7-5)
  6. Indianapolis Colts (7-5)
  7. Houston Texans (7-5)

The Steelers will have opportunities moving forward. With their next matchup coming against the Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh can push the current 6th seed out of contention as they move back into the race.

Pittsburgh's next four games include a trip to Indianapolis before coming back home to host the Cincinnati Bengals. They then finish the regular season with a road trip, stopping in Seattle to face the Seahawks and ending in Baltimore against the Ravens.
