Steelers HC Mike Tomlin: Mitchell Trubisky improving each week in 'all areas'

Shortly after the Pittsburgh Steelers dropped their Week 3 "Thursday Night Football" contest against the Cleveland Browns, head coach Mike Tomlin was again asked about the starting quarterback position. Again, Tomlin voiced his support for starter Mitchell Trubisky, despite flocks of fans calling for rookie Kenny Pickett to be handed the reins.

Five days later, the longtime leader of the black and yellow reiterated his stance.

Last week, one prominent name to come to the defense of Tomlin regarding the team's quarterback situation was former six-time Pro Bowler wide receiver Chad Johnson, formerly known as Chad "Ochocinco." Johnson spent 10 of his 11 NFL seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, calling the fellow AFC North Steelers one of his rivals.

In three games this season, Trubisky has posted a 60.2 completion percentage for 569 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception, while adding six carries for 23 yards and one score. In the Week 3 loss to Cleveland, he went 20-for-32 with a season-high 207 passing yards, 0 touchdowns, 0 interceptions and two rushing attempts for seven yards and a touchdown.

Pittsburgh will look to avoid their third straight loss when they host the New York Jets at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
