Steelers' Heinz Field reportedly becoming Acrisure Stadium

As Tim Benz noted for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Andrew Fillipponi of Pittsburgh sports radio station 93.7 The Fan reported that Heinz Field, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, is getting a new name.

Fans of the club didn't have to wait long to learn of the moniker.

According to Fillipponi and Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Pittsburgh-based Heinz ketchup company will be replaced as the stadium's sponsor by Acrisure. It is expected that "Acrisure Stadium" will officially be introduced as soon as Tuesday.

Florio adds that Acrisure is an insurance brokerage firm out of Michigan, and he speculated that the company's lack of name recognition among casual football fans likely played a role in it purchasing the sponsorship rights attached to the Steelers' stadium.

Financial details of the agreement weren't initially reported.

In an earlier Monday piece, Florio explained that the Steelers relocated from Three Rivers Stadium to Heinz Field in 2001 and have played there ever since. Heinz held the naming rights deal for the venue for the past 21 years, and it's not known why the company failed to renew its contract. Per Florio, Heinz's original agreement expired after the 2020 NFL season, but the two parties ultimately came to terms on a one-year extension.

The length of the deal between Acrisure and the Steelers wasn't known as of early Monday afternoon.
