PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers inside linebacker Elandon Roberts said he will play this Sunday when his team takes on the Green Bay Packers in Week 10.
Roberts suffered a knee injury during a practice session this week, and was limited on Wednesday and did not practice on Thursday, but he was back in action on Friday and said he’s ready to go this week.
Roberts has played 42 consecutive games dating back to the end of the 2021 season and has only not played in seven of his team’s game during his entire eight-year NFL career.
In eight games this season, he has made four starts and recorded 48 tackles, five for a loss, and 1 1/2 sacks. He also had four quarterback hits.
The Steelers will already be without starting inside linebacker Cole Holcomb, who was lost for the season to a left knee injury in the Week 9 win over the Tennessee Titans.
Roberts will likely start alongside Kwon Alexander, with second-year former seventh-round pick Mark Robinson providing rotational depth and Mykal Walker and Tariq Carpenter options to be elevated from the practice squad.
The Steelers signed Roberts to a two-year, $7 million contract this offseason. He started his career as sixth-round draft pick out of Houston with the New England Patriots in 2016. After four seasons and two Super Bowl titles in New England, Roberts played three seasons with the Miami Dolphins before joining the Steelers this spring.
The team will release its full injury update for the game against the Packers on Friday afternoon. Defensive tackle Cam Heyward also returned to practice on Friday and said he expects to play, as well.
