PITTSBURGH — The Steelers are a banged-up team, but aside from Diontae Johnson and Cam Heyward, it seems the team escaped a disaster with other players on the Steelers injury report. DeMarvin Leal and Pat Freiermuth were both fine and expect to play on Monday. Both were back to full participants on Friday while dealing with their triceps and chest injuries.

Meanwhile, Johnson was at practice on Friday off the side. He did not practice, and Mike Tomlin noted that they would wait as long as they could until they decided on his injured reserve status, given the injury and the possibility that he could come back early. But those players are nonfactors this week. In other injury news, the Steelers have some worrying trends.

James Daniels was still limited at practice after suffering an ankle injury. The Steelers starting right guard appears excited and ready to play. Meanwhile, Larry Ogunjobi took a step back and did not practice on the defensive line with a foot injury that has nagged him for an entire month.

As far as other news, Chuks Okorafor is in concussion protocol. By Monday, he must clear concussion protocol and all five steps to play against the Cleveland Browns. He was limited on Friday but taking all the proper steps. Broderick Jones would be set to get his first career start in his absence.

Running back Anthony McFarland popped up with a knee injury Thursday, forcing him to miss practice unexpectedly. That continued on Friday, and McFarland’s injury is cause for concern for the Steelers. Left guard Isaac Seumalo did not practice and was given a veteran day off.
