Steelers offense putrid in 20 games under offensive coordinator Matt Canada

The Steelers' offense has been difficult to watch so far in 2022, totaling 510 yards in two games, the third worst in the NFL. Adding to the concern, Pittsburgh's offensive struggles date to last season, when Matt Canada took over as offensive coordinator after Randy Fichtner's contract wasn't renewed.

The team hasn't scored a first-quarter touchdown since Week 10 of last season, when Mason Rudolph started at quarterback and the Steelers tied the Lions, who finished 3-13-1.

In 20 games with Canada as offensive coordinator, the Steelers have not had a 300-yard passing game. The team's last one came in Week 17 of the 2020 season, a 24-22 loss to the Browns with Rudolph as the starter again.

Reportedly there is growing frustration with Canada inside the Steelers' organization.

Head coach Mike Tomlin has never fired an offensive coordinator in-season. If he does, he could turn to quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan, a former offensive coordinator with the Giants and Buccaneers.

Tomlin has said that he will "exercise appropriate patience" with his struggling offense, per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, but how long will it take for his patience to run out?

Pittsburgh has a short week with a game at Cleveland on Thursday night.
