Steelers OLB T.J. Watt back from groin injury, on track to play vs. Packers

Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro pass-rusher T.J. Watt put pen to paper on a contract extension that could be worth over $112 million total when all is said and done ahead of the regular season. Since then, however, Watt has completed only one full game, as he suffered a groin injury in the Week 2 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders that kept him sidelined for last Sunday's disappointing defeat at the hands of the Cincinnati Bengals.

As Myles Simmons explained for Pro Football Talk, Watt was listed as a full participant in practices held on Thursday and Friday and seems good to go for Sunday's showdown with the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

"I feel really good," Watt told reporters Friday. "Full practice yesterday and full practice today, so I feel really good with where my body is at."

Thus far, Watt has accumulated seven total tackles, three sacks, six quarterback hits, two forced fumbles and one tackle for a loss this season.

Watt's return to in-game action is set to occur as the Steelers sit at 1-2 and as veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is, statistically speaking, one of the league's least-efficient players at the position. Former player and current ESPN analyst Damien Woody even called Roethlisberger "washed" on Thursday.
