Steelers rookies Kenny Pickett, Chris Oladokun 'attached at the hip'

Probably the biggest storyline hovering over the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of July involves the alleged competition for the starting quarterback job between free-agent pickup Mitchell Trubisky, backup Mason Rudolph and first-round draft selection Kenny Pickett that, by many accounts, is Trubisky's to lose.

Earlier this month, Trubisky remarked that the Steelers had "built a great quarterback room" that some forget also includes seventh-round choice Chris Oladokun. During Tuesday's edition of "The Pat McAfee Show," Pickett explained how he and Oladokun have already become fast friends.

"Chris Oladokun came in with me, and we've been kind of attached at the hip," Pickett said, per Matthew Marczi of Steelers Depot. "We do pretty much everything together. Extra meeting time, film, going over the playbook and everything. Everyone's kind of moving towards the same direction. We just want to win, so there's definitely high expectations coming into the season."

Oladokun could be stashed away on the Pittsburgh practice squad unless the club trades Rudolph to a quarterback-needy team during or after the preseason. Assuming Pickett enters September third on the depth chart at the position, as many expect, he and Oladokun could have plenty of time together during midweeks to help teammates prepare for opponents but also to discuss any frustrations either may have about not playing in the early stages of their careers.
