Steelers sign K Chris Boswell to four-year, $20.5M deal

Last week, Pittsburgh Steelers placekicker Chris Boswell said that he was "not here to think about a contract or numbers" while in the last year of his deal but added that he wanted to remain with the organization beyond the upcoming season.

Boswell's wish was granted on the opening day of August.

Per Brooke Pryor of ESPN, agent Jeff Nalley has told ESPN's Adam Schefter that Boswell has put pen to paper on a new four-year, $20.5 million contract that includes $12.5 million guaranteed. That deal ties Boswell with Justin Tucker of the Baltimore Ravens as the highest-paid placekickers in NFL history.

Boswell joined the Steelers in 2015 and, according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, has kicked in 104 of a possible 113 games during his Pittsburgh tenure. The 31-year-old has converted 182 of 206 total regular-season field goal attempts (88.3 percent) and made 231 of 245 career extra points (94.3 percent). He went 36-of-40 on field goal attempts during the 2021 regular season, and he's made all 16 of his career playoff field goal tries.

Boswell was selected to the Pro Bowl squad for the 2017 campaign.
