The Pittsburgh Steelers will spend the offseason doing something they haven't had to in a long time - search for a new head strength and conditioning coach.

Steelers head strength and conditioning coach Marcel Pastoor announced on LinkedIn that he would be leaving the team after 23 years with the franchise. Pastoor has worked with the Steelers since completing his masters degree at Pitt and will be looking for a new job for the first time since.

"Steelers Nation, and all my connections, Thank you so much," Pastoor wrote. "I have been unbelievably gifted to work for the greatest company, greatest owners, and coaches and staff for the past 23 years, and I am ready for a change."

Pastoor took time to thank the Rooney family, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, Bill Cowher, his mentors and the thousands of players he worked with over his more than two decades of work in Pittsburgh.

Pastoor earned his undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech and his masters degree at Pitt. Meanwhile, he served as an intern strength coach for the Washington Commanders for two years from 1999 to 2000 and an Assistant Strength Coach Volunteer at Radford University.

He spent 20 years as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Steelers beginning in March of 2001 before he was promoted to the head position in March of 2021, a position he's held until now.
