The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking for a partner opposite of Joey Porter Jr., and even with Patrick Peterson on the roster, they'll likely add a younger option through free agency or the NFL Draft.

One name being floated out as a potential fit is former Washington Commanders cornerback Kendall Fuller, who ESPN believes is the right signing for Pittsburgh to make.

"The Steelers have some need at cornerback, especially if they decide to move Patrick Peterson to safety full-time. Fuller was the only Commanders cornerback last season with strong coverage numbers. His coverage DVOA was similar to those of L'Jarius Sneed and Marshon Lattimore, although he did allow a lot of touchdowns. In Pittsburgh, he could play opposite Joey Porter Jr. and take the easier assignment while Porter works on the opposition's No. 1 receiver. Fuller should be good enough to allow Pittsburgh's safeties to shade toward Porter's man," ESPN writes.

Fuller, 29, has 93 games of starting experience under his belt, spending six years in Washington and two in Kansas City. He's recorded 16 interceptions, with five coming in the last two years. In 15 games last season, he recorded two interceptions, nine pass deflections and allowed a 68.8% completion percentage.

The Steelers are open to moving Peterson to safety but haven't made that commitment just yet. Even if they don't, they typically utilize three cornerbacks on the outside and could look for Fuller to be their starter while Peterson is utilized at other spots on the field.

Spotrac has his market value at three years, $42.3 million, averaging $14.1 million per season. The Steelers currently have around $13 million in available cap space, but could add more through cuts and restructures.

Look for Fuller to be an option, and if the financial end of the situation works out, Pittsburgh could bring in the long-time starter.
