Trade speculation has been swirling around Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs for quite some time now. But could something actually be in the process of happening?

If Diggs’ recent social media activity is any indication, then possibly.

Diggs recently took to his X account to post “ready for watever” while also changing his bio to a photo of him waving. Goodbye to the Bills, perhaps?

Of course, Diggs has been known to voice his displeasure before, so this could all be much ado about nothing. There have also been no concrete rumors about a potential Diggs trade.

But maybe Diggs knows something we don’t?

It should be noted that Diggs is under contract with Buffalo through 2027, so the Bills have absolutely no need to trade him now unless they are tryin to clear even more cap space.

Buffalo entered the offseason with one of the worst salary cap situations in the NFL and had to go through a whole lot of gymnastics to finally get under the salary cap.

The Bills are still really tight against the cap, having about $6.5 million in cap room at the moment. If Buffalo trades Diggs before June 1, it would save $8 million.

That really isn’t a whole lot, especially not when you take into account what Diggs provides.

However, it stands to reason that the Bills may want to get out from under his deal entirely, as he is slated to make around $80 million in base salary over the next four years.

Diggs is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he caught 107 passes for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns.

On the surface, those look like impressive numbers, but they were very frontloaded. The 30-year-old racked up five 100-yard outings over his first six games of the season and then did not log a single 100-yard performance the rest of the way.

We’ll see if Stefon Diggs heads into 2024 with Buffalo.
