Sometimes it’s not what you know but who you know that matters. That may just be the case when it comes to Stephen Rivers, brother of Philip Rivers, who is getting a tryout with the Arizona Cardinals.

Stephen, like big brother Philip, who plays for the San Diego Chargers, is a quarterback.

One glance at his career at Louisiana State and Vanderbilt shows a quarterback who has struggled to perform at the collegiate level. His college stats at LSU and Vandy aren’t pretty: 37.3 percent passing completion for 334 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions.

After struggling at Vanderbilt, Rivers spent his 2015 season at Northwestern State, where he experienced a bit more success. He completed 65.1 percent of his passes for the Demons for 1,394 yards with nine touchdowns and five interceptions last year.

All that aside, Rivers, at 6-foot-7 and 235 pounds, has the body of an NFL quarterback. It remains to be seen if he can translate his physical attributes and family heritage into NFL success.
